Education changes a child's future and our Child Advocates change a child's life every day.
In case after case, we have found that going to school helps a child slowly gain back self-confidence and dignity. Not only do the children learn to read and write, but they also gain the tools to be able to create a better future for themselves. Having an education gives them a better chance at finding jobs and being able to support their families and avoid the need to send their own children into restavek.
Most importantly, Restavek Freedom's team of child advocates helps children in our program to know that they are not alone, that there are people who are looking out for them. Our staff works with host families to advocate for the better treatment of children and help adults begin to see children as children to be loved and not just free labor.
A gift of $30 per month provides tuition, a uniform, books, supplies and regular visits from our Child Advocates.
You can also share a sponsorship. Many of our children are sponsored by friends, classes, book clubs, churches, etc. Just have each person donate their portion of the $30/month online and in the Comments section write "Sharing Child Sponsorship with..." and the names of the people in your group.
Please contact Tiffany Robbins - our Child Advocacy Coordinator - with any questions. She'll be happy to help you out. 513.475.3710 or email tiffany@restavekfreedom.org.
