That's about 72,390 meals or about 6000 meals per week.

Food Relief

In the days immediately after the earthquake it was difficult for many people to find food and clean drinking water. While we are an advocacy organization and not a relief organization, our team in Haiti and supporters from around the world mobilized to make sure that we did whatever we could to help our friends and neighbors in need.

Here's a short rundown of what we were able to do in the communities of Port-au-Prince where we work.

We purchased a truck, drove to the Dominican Republic and purchased food and water.
We packed food in backpacks and walked through the hills and mountains to give out food and water in areas that no other aid groups were serving.
Barrels of beans, rice, corn and oil were stored in our back room and our team packed hundreds and thousands of sacks so that children could take home a weeks worth of meals to their families. Each week we fed roughly 5000 people.
We delivered food to 11 of our partner schools so that they could either pass out sacks to children to take home or cook food for the children at school to make sure they had at least one meal a day.
