After the earthquake many children and teachers no longer wanted to go to class in a concrete building. As we helped to rebuild, many school directors requested that we help build half walls, with just tarp and or tin roofs above. While many people refer to these as "temporary" classrooms, they most likely will turn into permanent solutions.

Rebuilding Schools

After the earthquake schools did not officially reopen until April, but we helped many of our partner schools to open earlier by helping them to rebuild their schools, classroooms and security walls.

After such tragedy, children were needing some sense of normalcy, some structure that would help them to feel a sense of security or at a minimum a chance to see friends and teachers and have some affirmation that life would resume.

Over 3000 children were in school by the end of February and we helped over 11 schools get up and running a full month before the state mandated that school was back in session.
